WHO AM I?
A Dedicated Music Teacher
For over two decades, Brenton has been immersed in the dynamic music scene of America’s southwest. Graduating Magna Cum Laude from California State University Northridge marked the inception of his journey as a multifaceted musician, educator, and composer. His extensive performance repertoire spans across genres, from jazz ensembles and orchestras to musicals, metal bands, comedy troupes, and recording studios.
In 2000, I uncovered my passion and embarked on a career as a Music Teacher and performer. My joy lies in collaborating with others and experiencing the exhilaration when a challenging concept finally "clicks" for someone. With a gentle yet effective approach, I prioritize enjoyable, pressure-free learning experiences that yield excellent results. Let's delve into a conversation about my teaching philosophy, the diverse range of courses and classes I offer, and my rich background in music.

“I took biweekly ukulele lessons with Brenton for about a month before a trip to Peru. Each lesson was focused, fun, and informative. Glad I invested the time and money into them because as a complete beginner, I’ve seen my progress unfold and can now comfortably play four songs and practice with discipline and confidence on my own. Thanks Brenton!”

“Taking upright bass lessons from Brenton has been a wonderful experience. His knowledge, skill, and patience are second to none. If you are looking for a musical instrument instructor who will improve your skill no matter what level you are at, I highly recommend Brenton. He is one cool dude.”

“What a wonderful experience and introduction to the violin!”

“Brenton took an individual approach to make sure we focused on what I wanted to learn and improve on, while at the same time, reinforcing fundamentals and technique. I am an adult beginning student with no background in music theory and he made me feel comfortable right away and taught at the level where I am so I stayed motivated. I would definitely recommend Brenton to help improve your playing regardless of what level you are starting.”

“Brenton is a fantastic instructor for any level of playing ability, as well as any age. As a bass player, it was very difficult to find a local instructor who played bass as their primary instrument, but it was refreshing to see instructors like Brenton out there. His passion for music is clear, and his versatility and knowledge seems infinite. He focuses on the areas that the student wants to improve and even provides great suggestions of his own if the student is feeling unsure of where they want to go. He simplifies difficult concepts and makes them accessible to people with any level of musical understanding. Strongly recommended.”

I bought a used acoustic guitar, even though I knew nothing about playing the instrument. As he taught me the basics I realized this would be a labor of love and devotion. He has shown me one never stops learning! Even the greats continue to evolve.

My goal is to make music with my friends. That is what Brenton has given me! Along with my weekly lessons and my daily practice, I get together with Brenton to jam with other students and friends once a week!

I can’t say enough about my experience under the tutelage of Brenton. His endless knowledge of music and his positive and patient teaching have opened my eyes to a whole new world! In closing, I would like to say “ Thank you, my friend”
